Meet The Founder
Vistara EPM was founded by Janil Bowan, a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) and Project Management Professional (PMP®). Janil has experience in a range of multi-disciplinary engineering infrastructure projects in the social housing, building, rail and port environment. He has worked in railway construction, rail and civil design, engineering management, and project management.
He has led multiple teams of professionals, and managed large budgets and complex client portfolio’s. He has previously served as a Director of Education Infrastructure at the Department of Infrastructure Development and Chief Director at the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements.
He is the Chairperson (2022, 2023 & 2026) and past Treasurer (2024, 2025) of the Railway and Harbours Engineering Division at the South African Institute of Civil Engineering (SAICE) . He also served as an Executive Board member and Council member at SAICE.
He has a BSc Engineering (Civil Engineering) and Master of Engineering (Industrial Engineering) from the University of Witwatersrand. He also sits on various other committees, and mentors young engineers through the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.
